The Flaminia, the first model to be produced under a new regime at Lancia following the 1955 takeover from Lancia family ownership by cement millionaire Carlo Pesenti, was over-seen by chief engineer Antonio Fessia, who had been responsible for the Topolino whilst at Fiat and led the design team of both the 1960 Flavia and the 1963 Fulvia models at Lancia.

Produced in Pininfarina-styled 4-door Saloon form and with more popular Coupe bodywork by Pininfarina, Zagato and Touring, who also offered a convertible version, the Flaminia’s V6 engine capacity increased from the 2458cc to 2775cc from 1962.

Employing a shorter-wheelbase for their Flaminias, Carrozeria Touring of Milan had sold 2748 by the end of the limited production run in 1970 by when Lancia and their considerable debts had been taken on by Fiat.
