AI Listing Summary

This 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mark 2 is a remarkable survivor with fewer than 38,000 miles, retaining its original Silver Birch finish and red leather interior. The car has been kept on static display since 2010 and has not been driven, with the current odometer reading at 37,592 miles. While its degree of originality is remarkable and it is a worthy candidate for 'Conservation Class,' recommissioning will be required before it returns to the road.

• One private owner for some 40 years • Automatic transmission • Matching chassis and engine numbers • Fewer than 38,000 miles from new • Present ownership since 2010 • Extensive history file Its accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate reveals that chassis '4229/R' was built in right-hand drive specification for the UK market and despatched on 17th March 1970 to H W Motors Ltd of Walton-on-Thames.

The DB6 was originally finished in Silver Birch with red leather interior, and left the factory equipped with automatic transmission, two seatbelts, triple SU carburettors, an alternator, and Avon radial tyres.

Reputedly, the DB6 served as HWM's demonstrator, covering 1,780 miles in that role before being sold to the late Peter Barry Tunks, its first private owner.

Mr Tunks enjoyed the Aston until he died in 2008, and when the car was offered for sale at auction in 2010 he was described in the catalogue as 'a conscientious and knowledgeable motoring enthusiast'.
