AI Listing Summary

This 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mark 2, one of only 245 built, features automatic transmission and matching chassis and engine numbers. It underwent a major restoration in 2004, including an engine rebuild and interior re-trim, but has been on static display since 2009 and now requires recommissioning, with restoration invoices unfortunately lost.

Condition

6

The car is described as being in generally sound condition in 2004, which led to a major restoration. However, after being purchased in 2009, it has been kept on static display. It requires recommissioning before it returns to the road, and the invoices and records of the restoration work have been lost. This suggests that while the car may have been in excellent condition post-restoration, its current state requires work, but it is likely still in good condition overall.

The Mark 2 had been announced in August 1969, its major changes consisting of flared wheel arches accommodating wider tyres, a more substantial Borg & Beck clutch, and a changed first gear ratio, while power-assisted steering was now standard on all cars.

Unfortunately, nothing is known of this car's subsequent history prior to its acquisition in 2004 by the immediately preceding owner, a time-served motor engineer and garage proprietor.

The auction description on file from 2009 states the car was previously having been on museum display for some 18 years.
