Description
In 1980, the Vanden Plas badge reached Rover's SD1 executive model, being applied to 2600 and 3500 models to denote flagships.
Among the standard features were electrically‑adjustable, heated door mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning and an electric sunroof, plus Dunlop Denovo tyres on alloy wheels, and a choice of velvet or Connolly leather upholstery.
This white 2600 automatic with brown velvet interior was registered in April 1987.
The vendor advises us that it spent around 20 years off the road ‑ albeit indoors and under cover ‑ before being acquired by a garage that intended to bring it back to the road.
However, progress was slow, and the job was eventually taken over the the vendor, who did finish things off.
Having done quite a lot of engine work, he reports that the car "runs beautifully".
