AI Listing Summary

This 1974 MGB GT V8, finished in Citron Yellow, presents a compelling package with desirable upgrades and a recently refurbished interior. While the exterior paint requires attention, the underlying structure and mechanicals, including a V8 engine with a stainless-steel exhaust, are in good order, offering a strong foundation for restoration.

Condition

6

The exterior paint has faded and shows signs of localized repairs, including overspray and mismatched paint. There is also some rust developing on the inner wheel arches, and some rubber seals have perished. The driver's door doesn't fit perfectly, and the offside door glass is badly scratched. However, the shut lines are impressive, and the chromework, lamp lenses, and badges are in good order. The interior has been significantly refurbished with new leather seats, door cards, and carpets, which are in excellent condition. Mechanically, the car has been upgraded for reliability and drivability, starts well, idles solidly, and revs with enthusiasm. The gearbox was reconditioned in 2010 with a new clutch and mounts.

One of only around 275 examples finished in Citron Yellow and boasting a black leather interior and a (non-original) Webasto-style sunroof, this unusually well-appointed, right-hand drive, UK-market MGB GT V8 comes to us from an owner who’s owned it for over a decade.

Its history file stretches back to 1980 too and it features some desirable upgrades including a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system, a Powerlite high-torque starter motor, twin 12-volt batteries, Stealth electronic ignition with the original Lucas distributor fitted with a Petronax electroinc item, Grose carburettor jets, Spax rear dampers, a Kenlowe electric fan, and a 5/8th front anti-roll bar.

The result is a reliable and comfortable MGB GT V8 that goes and handles every bit as well as it looks.

The Citron Yellow paintwork is faded overall with evidence of localised repairs, including overspray on the mudflaps, slightly mismatched paint, a few drips and runs, and even a ‘dry’ finish in places.
