The introduction of the Dino 208 GT4 came at a crossroads in the evolution of Ferrari’s road car lineage.

When launched in 1975, the Dino brand was still active as a standalone marque alongside Ferrari, eventually being brought together in 1976.

The Dino badge represented entry-level accessibility, as typified by the preceding six-cylinder models such as the 206 GT and 246 GT.

Ferrari mixed affordability with performance with the 208 GT4, packaging it with a 2.0-litre V-8 engine—a smaller and less-powerful version of the 2.9-litre unit in the 308 GT4 sister model.

It is believed that the lower-displacement car was built with eyes on Ferrari’s domestic market, on account of high taxes payable in Italy on cars with an engine greater than two litres.

This example, finished in its original Rosso Ferrari, was sold new in Italy in June 1975.

Currently wearing a non-original brown and light tan fabric interior, this example was delivered new with a Beige fabric interior.
