JDO3492The Ford Zephyr and Zodiac range remain some of the most iconic British classics of the 1960s, with starring roles in plenty of period television series, most famously Z-Cars.

Large, comfortable and powerful, they provided perfect family transport, with spacious interiors, powerful engines and the ability to tow caravans, boats or other instruments of family enjoyment.

The Zodiac represented the top of the range.

For 1966’s Mk.IV Zephyrs and Zodiacs, the Zodiac gained Ford’s 3-litre Essex V6, which gave 140bhp, usually driving through a four-speed manual gearbox.

Independent rear suspension was an important upgrade, while power steering made the steering much more pleasant.

An alternator, an adjustable steering column, electric windscreen washers, two-speed wipers and comprehensive instrumentation including a rev counter completed the impressive specification.
