The Vauxhall Monaro was a high-performance coupe introduced in the UK in 2004, based on the Australian Holden Monaro and part of General Motors’ global platform sharing.

Originally developed by Holden in Australia, the Monaro gained international acclaim for its combination of muscular design and powerful V8 engines.

When Vauxhall brought it to the UK, it offered two variants: a 5.7-litre LS1 V8 producing 329 bhp and later a 6.0-litre LS2 V8 with up to 400 bhp, delivering thrilling performance and a 0-60 mph time as quick as 5 seconds.

Praised for its rear-wheel-drive dynamics, practicality, and value compared to European rivals, the Monaro developed a cult following among enthusiasts.

Its production ended in 2006, making it a short-lived but memorable chapter in Vauxhall’s history, representing a rare blend of Australian engineering and British branding in the muscle car tradition.
