1977 Leyland Mini Pickup A satisfying restoration project
United Kingdom • 17 Feb 2024
Vehicle Details
AI Listing Summary
This 1977 Leyland Mini Pickup is a rare version needing restoration. It was formerly used by Central Tyres (Southport) and is painted in their livery, though originally blue. The engine is listed as a 1293cc unit in the V5C, but a different A series engine is currently fitted with some parts missing. The sale includes additional body and interior parts.

Condition

The vehicle is described as a 'satisfying restoration project' that 'needs work'. It has been off the road for a while. The rear bed is rusty and cut, and the VIN tag doesn't match the V5C. There are also some missing engine parts. However, additional parts are included. This indicates a project car with significant cosmetic and mechanical work needed.

This Mini would appear to be a ‘pickup’ version and as such is one of the rarest of the many classic Minis produced.
It has been off the road for a while and whilst clearly this Mini needs work, the choice is yours as to where to take the restoration - be it a light recommission or a full restoration back to original.
Either way it makes for a fantastic project.
Latterly used by Central Tyres (Southport) and painted in their livery of red and white (the original colour was blue according to the V5C).
The V5C is also showing the engine as a 1293cc unit although it appears that a different A series engine of some kind is presently fitted (some ancillaries missing) given the engine number tag present.
The engine is fitted with a NIKKI carb.
The additional parts that come with the car are door skins, front floor panels and rear bed panels plus assorted smaller parts.
There is also an aftermarket plastic dash.
We also note that the rear bed is rusty and has been cut to allow access ...
