Description Effectively two owners from new, the first for 32 years; 86,890 miles indicated; engine rebuilt at 79,600 miles; in storage from 2002 - 2019; highly original; what a find! Launched in 1984, the VW Golf GTi MkII carried on where the immortal GTi MkI had left off, instantly becoming the most desirable ‘hot hatch’ of the Eighties.

Available as a three- or five-door hatchback, it was powered by a fuel-injected 8v 1.8-litre developing 112bhp and shot to 60mph in just 8.1 seconds with a top speed of 112mph.

Handling was superb, as was build quality, and these tough little sportscars can rack up huge mileages with ease.

Supplied new by Martins of Basingstoke in November 1987, this highly original GTi three-door has had just three owners, the first being the owner of the Martins dealership who kept it in his name for 11 years and the second being a company that we are told was also owned by Martins who kept it for 21 years.
