Founded in 1905, Delage exhibited its first two models at the Grand Palais Motor Show, where they were an instant success. By 1906, Delage was making a name for itself in the Grand Prix des Voiturettes and even won the Indianapolis 500 in 1914. Delage produced innovative engines, beautiful racing chassis, and luxury leather-upholstered bodies and interiors for an elegant clientele.
The 1920s were a prosperous period for the brand, which consolidated its image and technical developments through competition. In the 1930s, despite the economic crisis, Louis Delage persisted in producing luxury cars.
Driving a Delage was then a privilege reserved for people of taste, but above all for the wealthy.
The consequences of the economic crisis ultimately did not spare Delage, which went bankrupt in 1935.
Delahaye then took over the Delage brand under licence until it disappeared ...
