In 1963, Lancia presents the Fulvia sedan, a blend of tradition and modernity.
Replacing the Appia, it featured angular lines, an all-new V4 engine with closed angle and overhead camshaft, front-wheel drive, double-wishbone independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.
As early as 1965, a 2+2 coupé was launched; in its lightened and HF-prepared version, it enabled the brand to shine in the World Rally Championship.
In 1969, the arrival of the 1600 HF, with its 5-speed gearbox, enabled the brand to set its sights even higher.
The factory made extensive use of the 1600 HF between 1969 and 1974, securing numerous rally victories, crowned by a Manufacturers’ World Rally Championship title in 1972, and again in 1974 (shared with the Stratos and Beta).
