*Citroën Visa 1000 Pistes – 1984 No registration title, vehicle never registered In 1980, Guy Verrier, a former rally driver who had become director of Citroën Compétition, launched the development of a racing Visa, with the ambition of competing in the World Rally Championship.

After the Visa Lotus, Trophy and Chrono, a front-engined 4x4 prototype won the Rallye des 1000 pistes in the experimental car category.

The Visa 1000 Pistes went into series production and was the first French 4-wheel drive to be marketed for road use and competition, ahead of its cousin the Peugeot 205 T16.

This version appeared with the birth of Group B.

For homologation purposes, 200 examples were produced, plus a further 20 “Evolution” models.

Under the bonnet, the 1000 Pistes adopted the XYR 1,360 cc engine from the Visa Chrono.

Fed by 2 Weber type 40 twin carburettors, it produced 112 hp at 6,800 rpm.

It weighs in at just 850kg, despite being fitted with all-wheel drive.
