What's going on here?
It's been a big few weeks for synthetic fuels.
Tell me more
At the British Grand Prix David Brabham piloted a 1971 McLaren F1 M19A ahead of the race.
When it finished it looked the same, smelled the same, sounded the same, and drove the same as it was designed more than 50 years ago.
The one difference? It was running on synthetic fuel.
And only two weeks ago, Zero Petroleum held a demo day at the Bicester Heritage HQ.
The big dogs turned out. Damon Hill drove his father’s Lotus. Valtteri Bottas drove a Miura. And NASCAR 2023 Rookie of the Year Ty Gibbs was doing some peddling.
Once again, every vehicle was running on synthetic fuel.
Why should I care?
It’s another step on the journey for synthetic fuels to move closer towards adoption and commercial-scale production.
Are we there yet? No.
Are we heading in the right direction? Absolutely and we should celebrate every step.
