Wolseley, a British car manufacturer founded in 1901, initially produced vehicles under license from Herbert Austin.
The company gained prominence in the early 20th century, becoming known for its innovative designs and engineering.
During World War I, Wolseley shifted production to support the war effort, manufacturing aircraft engines and other military equipment.
After the war, Wolseley continued to produce luxury cars, but faced financial difficulties.
In 1927, Wolseley was acquired by William Morris, becoming part of the Morris Motors group.
Wolseley cars were produced under the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and later British Leyland.
Production ceased in 1975.
Did you know Wolseley once built aircraft? During WWI, they produced thousands of aircraft engines and even entire aircraft, contributing significantly to the war effort.
