Launched in 1936, the Jaguar SS was available as either a drophead coupé or a saloon.

The model names given to the cars denoted their engine size and were simply named 3 1/2 litre, 2 1/2 litre or 1 1/2 litre.

The 1 1/12 litre was initially launched with a 1608cc side valve engine but later gained an improved 1775cc engine which produced an extra 20bhp bringing a welcomed improvement to the Jaguar.

The engine wasn't the only thing to be improved; the car also had an upgraded Girling braking system and better springs offering a more comfortable ride.

The Jaguar is a superbly smooth car offering great comfort with stunning looks, making it one of the finest grand tourers of its time.
