AI Listing Summary

This one-family-owner Jaguar Mk X has been extensively recommissioned at a cost of £40,000, including mechanical rebuilds and a respray, making it a strong contender for collectors. Despite minor cosmetic imperfections on the paint and interior carpets, its overall condition, low mileage for its age, and documented history present a compelling package, especially with its no-reserve auction.

The car has undergone a significant recommissioning costing £40,000, including engine rebuild, suspension overhaul, and respray. While the paint has some minor issues like flatness and orange peel after 15 years, the panels are straight, and the chromework presents well. The interior is largely excellent, with only minor wear on the carpets and door card. Mechanically, the engine runs smoothly, and the gearbox has been serviced. Advisories on the MOT include a minor oil leak and slight play in the steering box.

Our seller inherited it and decided to recommission it 15 years ago with the aim of bringing it back to a condition that would enable him to use it every day.

This cost him £40,000 but he then proceeded to use ‘59 KAX’ on a regular basis, including – and this makes our point about gangsters in the introduction even more poignant – allowing it to be used for the film Code of Silence about Nipper Read’s quest to arrest the most famous gangsters of them all, the Kray twins.

Still finished in its original colours of Opalescent Maroon with a Beige leather interior, he isn’t using as much as he...
