In 1982, Ferrari’s 308 series received an update.

Chiefly, the transverse-mounted 2.9-litre V-8 benefitted from new heads sporting four valves per cylinder, improving the engine’s power, responsiveness, and efficiency.

Fittingly named the 308 “Quattrovalvole” for its four valves per cylinder, this new model was available with a “targa”-style roof (GTS) and in berlinetta coupé form (GTB).

Prior revisions from 1981 included a deeper front fascia, optional rear aerofoil, power mirrors, and Speedline wheels.

As with all other 308 iterations, the Quattrovalvole was supplied with a five-speed manual transmission.

In total, the 308 Quattrovalvole’s four-year production run provided just 748 examples of the 308 GTB.

This Quattrovalvole left the Ferrari factory in March 1984, finished in Nero with a Crema interior and believed to be destined for Spain.
