AI Listing Summary
This 1927 Austin 12/4 is a rare Gordon-bodied landaulette, benefiting from the larger 1861cc engine introduced in 1926. It presents well overall but shows age-related wear, including cracking on the front seats and tape repairs to the rear roof. The car is mechanically sound, with a clean underbody and no major oil leaks, making it a solid driver with potential for improvement.
With its rare Gordon coachwork and desirable engine, this Austin 12/4 offers collectors a unique opportunity. While the wear and tear may detract from the value, the car's mechanical soundness, clean underbody, and included V5C add appeal. The ease of starting and driving also contribute positively, though the non-original indicators may be a drawback for purists.

Condition
5
The car is described as being in presentable all-round condition. There is some age-related wear and cracking to the front seats, while the rears are protected by a temporary cover. There have also been some tape repairs carried out to the folding rear roof section. The doors open and close well and fit nicely. The underbody is very clean, and mechanically there is no sign of major oil leaks. In the vendor’s ownership, the car has been started and driven in and out of the garage, although not recently. Modern indicators have also been fitted, which are magnetic and removable at the rear.

The 12/4 became famous in its own lifetime for its strength and extremely impressive reliability, and remained in production right up until 1939, latterly mainly in taxi form.
The vintage-era cars are the most sought-after today, with cars from 1926 onwards having the larger and more powerful 1861cc side-valve four-cylinder engine.
A variety of bodies were offered from the factory, with chassis also being available for external coachbuilders, such as Gordon, who had a close association with Austin in the 1920s and ...
