AI Listing Summary
This 1925 AC 12hp 'Royal' is a well-preserved example with a rich history, including time spent in a museum. It's presented in its original "oily rag" condition with a distinctive patina, reflecting its age and careful ownership. Recent mechanical work ensures it remains a running and presentable classic.

Condition
6
The car is described as being in "oily rag condition" with a 1950s patina. It retains its original red upholstery and has full weather equipment, though the latter is described as "rather shabby". Mechanically, it's reported to be in sound running order, starting easily, with recent work done on the magneto and starter. This suggests a car that's been preserved with its age showing but maintained for functionality.

Edge, from 1921 to 1929.
Writing of the 12hp ‘Royal’, Edge referred to ‘its graceful lines and beautiful finish …..
the appearance, comfort, speed, reliability, durability and general efficiency of cars selling at many times the AC price; it combines these virtues with less running costs per mile than any car in the world of its speed and road performance.’ Edge’s eulogising was probably well justified, the ‘Royal’ being a well-engineered car with a four-cylinder, three bearing, monobloc engine, driving through a flat plate clutch to a three-speed gearbox with worm final drive.
Cantilever suspension provided excellent passenger comforts for the four passengers riding in the snug two front seats and slightly more exposed dickey.
