At the request of American customers who were unable to import the European 964 Carrera RS for homologation reasons, Porsche developed a specific version for North America, christened "RS America".
Only 701 examples were produced between 1992 and 1994, based on the 964 Carrera 2 (rear-wheel drive).
In keeping with the "RS" spirit, the car was lightened.
