Introduced in 1947 and then at the 1948 Motor Show, the Peugeot 203 met a precise set of specifications: sufficient power, comfort, safety, roadholding and sturdiness, while being available in a wide range of models.
Available in a wide range of versions - coupé, cabriolet, wagon, utility - it was an immediate success, helping to establish the solid reputation of Sochaux's production.
The model presented here is a rare Découvrable version, of which 11,514 units were produced from 1949 onwards, and which is particularly sought-after today.
This Peugeot 203 Découvrable is distinguished by its extensive history: copies of old registration documents show that the vehicle was delivered new in Algeria, in the department of Constantine.
In 1957, it was repatriated to France, in the Dordogne region, before later changing departments and moving to the Oise region in 1986.
