Designed by Pininfarina, it was powered by a 4.8-liter Colombo V12 engine fed by six Weber twin-barrel carburetors, developing 340 hp.


Before the advent of anti-pollution standards and electronic fuel injection, which toned down the model with the 400i in November 1979 (down to 310 hp), the 400 GT with six twin-barrel carburetors delivered 340 hp, offering considerably more power and more rapid revs.
