During the second half of the 1950s, the Turin giant decided to rejuvenate its 1200 Trasformabile cabriolet and entrusted the design to the Italian coachbuilder: Pininfarina.
Pininfarina designed a spider with classic but elegant lines, in keeping with the European taste of the time.
Fiat kept the mechanical base of its 1200 Trasformabile with its famous 1,221 cc engine that also equipped its 1200 saloon and the Simca Aronde, developing 59 bhp.
Produced from 1959 to 1966, the Fiat 1200 underwent several restylings of the front end as well as new engines.
Following the success of this model, and two years after the launch of its [Phone Number] saloon cars, Fiat introduced a version equipped with a 1,500 cm3 engine in 1963 and offered the powerful 1500 S Cabriolet.
