It was with the success of the Dino 246 GT and GTS models that Enzo Ferrari was convinced of the importance of the market for less powerful but lighter rear-engined saloon cars than the 308 which was launched in 1975.

The Maranello firm presented its 308 GTB at the Paris Motor Show in September 1975 and the car was a great success with visitors thanks to its design, the result of a clever mix between a Dino and a BB, the fruit of collaboration with Pininfarina.

Driven by a V8 in the rear transverse position, fed initially by 4 Weber double-body carburettors, the 308 developed 240 horsepower and could reach 250 km/h.
