La PL17 est lancée en juin 1959.
C'est une Dyna Z avec un tout nouveau capot avant, ce qui représente le tiers de la voiture.
L'arrière est aussi redessiné avec de nouvelles ailes.
Le couvercle du coffre, les feux et les pare-chocs sont aussi inédits.
En fait seule la cellule centrale est conservée.
La mécanique de 850 cc n'évolue pas vraiment mais la voiture est présentée comme un tout nouveau modèle.
Le nom de baptême est assez amusant, le PL rappelle bien sûr la marque mais le chiffre 17 est une étonnante addition qui montre que le nouveau modèle est une Economique et Grande Voiture: 5 CV fiscaux + 6 litres aux 100 + 6 places = 17.
En compétition, on retrouve en 1961 trois PL17 aux trois premières places du très difficile rallye de Monte Carlo.
L’exemplaire proposé à la vente a connu une restauration complète il y a quelques années.
