"Lancé en 1973 au London Motor Show, le coupé XJ-C ne fut mis en production qu'à partir de 1975 et ce jusqu'en 1978.
Avec exactement 10 426 coupés de produits dont 3145 en 1976 (dont 587 Daimler Sovereign Coupés), le coupé était basé sur la version à empattement court de la berline XJ.
Quelques exemplaires furent transformés par Lynx (16 exemplaires) et Ladbroke-Avon, dont le nôtre.
La ligne déjà très belle de la XJ, sublimée en coupé, atteint son apogée en version cabriolet.
