Our vendor, Barry, is no stranger to the restoration of Triumph motor cars, having completed several before happening across this early Spitfire when buying parts from Triumph specialist Totally Triumph in Northwich.

That was back in 1996.

Barry and his son, Steve, then took two years to complete the restoration.

We know it was two years because we are in possession of a Trophy from the Triumph Spitfire Owners Club that tells us that ‘121 KBP’ was awarded 1st in Class in 1998.

In the history file we have a copy of Triumph World magazine from October 2014, featuring a three page feature on our 1963 Spitfire explaining its build history and some anecdotes from Barry.

He tells us that the engine fitted when he bought it was not the original unit, so he bought a Mk 1 engine from Totally Triumph and was amazed to find that the serial number on this engine was only three digits away from the factory fitted one!
