AI Listing Summary
This 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Convertible is a rare and stunning example, recently restored in the USA and presented in excellent condition with exceptional paint and interior. It features the desirable Cleveland 351 ci engine and automatic transmission, and has been regularly driven and enjoyed by its collector owner, even undertaking a trip to Scotland without issue. The car sits on factory-correct chrome alloys and comes with an owner's handbook and HPi report, making it a highly desirable classic.
Condition

The car is described as a 'stunning example in every way' and 'as good underneath as on top'. It has been subject to restoration in the USA and the paint, striping, and attention to detail are exceptionally good. The interior is also described as stunning. While it has been used often by the vendor and recently driven to Scotland, there are no reported mechanical problems. The only minor point is that the odometer shows 9,000 miles, implying it has been used post-restoration, but the overall description points to near-perfect condition with only the slightest signs of use.

M & Q code engines were produced concurrently up until the end of 71 model year production.
There were also two 429ci options, the C-code CJ (Cobra Jet) & J-code CJ-R (Cobra Jet – Ram Air).
Buying the optional ‘Drag Pak’ 3.91 (V) or 4.11 (Y) rear gears turned either 429 into a ‘Super Cobra Jet’, with a solid lifter cam, Holley 780cfm carb and special rotating assembly with forged pistons.
Very impressive.
One of the most recognisable features of the 1971-1973 Mach 1 is the bonnet design with dual scoops.
The bonnet was a no-cost option on the 302 cars and standard on all others.
The basic bonnet had non-functional NACA-style submerged ducts, but when ordered with the Ram Air option, it became functional.
It included a vacuum-controlled door inside each scoop, and a fibergla...
