Condition

The car appears to be in good condition overall, with an older restoration that was completed in the early 2000s. The body and paint present well, with the exception of some minor micro blistering on the bonnet. The interior has been recently redone and is in excellent condition. Mechanically, the car is said to be "on the button" and ready for use. However, an older restoration may imply that some components are nearing the end of their service life.

Offered here is a 1961 MG A 1600 MkII smartly presented in Black with a Red leather interior.

We believe that this example was restored in the early 2000s, there is evidence in the history file detailing the restoration in a magazine article.

It appears that the chassis was shot blasted, welded, and painted with two coats of paint, and the engine and gearbox were sent off for reconditioning.

A new body shell was sourced, as the original one was too far gone, and the bonnet and doors were fitted on it.

The owner who restored the car decided he wanted a Black car with a Black interior, he understood that it wouldn’t have left Abingdon in that specification; however, it was his car, and he fancied a Black interior.

He then migrated to Cyprus, where he took the MG and enjoyed it in the sun until 2022.

Upon returning to the UK, a new Red interior was fitted.

This is a smartly presented, older restoration that is on the button and ready to use for the coming show season.
