Description
Introduced in 1948 and conceived as a simple, rugged and versatile utility vehicle, the Series I established the foundations of the Land Rover legend
First registered on 07/06/1952 , this Series I wears a satin Bronze Green respray, with a canvas tilt and seats by Exmoor Trim, chequer plate floors, Series I type door mirrors, period mud flaps and new sliding windows
Power comes from a Land Rover 2.5-litre diesel (a later unit, fitted in place of the original petrol engine), driving through a manual gearbox with Series 3 lightweight hubs
A restoration lasting some 15 months was completed in circa 2018 and we are reliably informed the restoration included a welded and rust treated chassis, reworked floorpans and bulkhead, rebuilt steering, new brake and clutch components, a new wiring loom with halogen headlights, and wheels shot blasted and stove enamelled and then fitted with new rubber
A charming Series I with torquier diesel power that is ready to be enjoyed
