Description
The original Ford Focus RS arrived in 2002 as a purpose-developed performance flagship car, bringing rally-inspired engineering and a distinctly raw, analogue character to the hot-hatch market.
With its distinctive wide-arch bodywork, 212bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, Quaife limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, an AP Racing clutch and lightweight 18-inch OZ Racing five-spoke alloy wheels, the Mk1 was a very different proposition from an ordinary Focus.
Production was limited to just 4,501 examples worldwide, including 2,147 for the UK market, and its combination of rarity, engaging front-wheel-drive performance and motorsport character has secured its place among the most celebrated Ford RS models. This 2003 example was delivered new and first registered in November of that year.
Finished in the model's iconic Imperial Blue, the wide-body coachwork presents uniformly, and the interior is equally smart.
