The Ford Capri 280 Brooklands represents the swan song of one of Britain’s most iconic sports coupés, a limited edition run that marked the end of a model which first appeared back in 1969.
Originally intended as a small run of 500 turbocharged cars, production was revised, and the final series was launched as the Capri 280 Brooklands.
Just 1,038 examples were ever produced, all finished in the distinctive Brooklands Green and fitted with a 2.8-litre fuel-injected V6 engine, a limited-slip differential, 15-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, and a full leather Recaro interior.
These features, combined with six deep-set dials dominating the dashboard, an AM radio/cassette and a lockable glovebox, made the Capri 280 the most comprehensively equipped road-going Capri ever produced.
Supplied new in the UK by John Grose Ford in Lowestoft, Suffolk in May 1987, this particular example has led a remarkably cosseted life.
