AI Listing Summary
This 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda, sold for £69,212, is a rare Olive Green example with a cream leather interior, originally from the USA and later restored in Italy. While well-presented with a fresh MoT, potential buyers should note the minor paint blemishes and an oil leak requiring investigation.
Condition
7
The car is described as being in very well-presented condition throughout, with gleaming brightwork and an interior that shows few signs of wear. However, there are some blemishes in the paintwork and minor micro-blistering on the bonnet, and an oil leak has been noticed from the engine which requires further investigation. Therefore, the car is in overall solid condition with slight wear visible, requiring minor reconditioning.

The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection.
To save on weight, the bonnet, boot lid and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium.
The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof.
The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful disc brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time.
