Description
When Porsche launched the 928 GTS in 1992, they knew it would be the last evolution of 928.
Porsche did much to enhance performance and refinement, knowing that its luxury flagship would leave memories with Porsche enthusiasts.
For the GTS, Porsche increased the engine capacity to 5397cc and added a catalytic convertor, with eight balance weights instead of six to enhance smoothness.
This DOHC engine produced 350bhp and enabled a top speed of more than 170mph.
The GTS engine was smoother and more flexible than its predecessor and was quieter and easier to drive.
Changes to the chassis included a wider rear track and larger brakes.
Externally, the GTS differed from S4 with its new style of alloy wheels, flared rear arches and a body-coloured rear spoiler.
What Porsche wasn't advertising when the 928 was released was the price; it was among the most expensive cars on the road at the time.
This severely hampered sales despite the model's high competency and long standard equipment...
