It still bears the registration plates of its supplying dealer, the Pentraeth Automotive Group of Menai Bridge, Gwynedd, and enjoyed full Mazda service up to 55,000 miles and maintenance courtesy of the family’s local garage for the subsequent 10,890.

The vendor currently rates the twin-cam engine and manual transmission as ‘good to excellent’ and the five-door bodywork, red paintwork and grey cloth interior trim as ‘average to good’ – the only obvious sign of wear and tear being fraying fabric on the driver’s seat bolster.
