The Model T Ford was launched in 1908 and was the world's first mass produced car, making motorised transport affordable for ordinary working class Americans.

The relatively low buying price was made possible by Henry Ford's adoption of assembly line production instead of individual hand building every vehicle, as had happened previously.

By 1926 even Henry Ford had to admit that his Model T, the car that 'put the world on wheels', had become obsolete and it was rumoured that many US states were considering banning the Model T due to its thought to be unsafe hand operated braking system.

The company terminated Model T’ production in May 1927, immediately after the 15 millionth example had rolled off the line, despite having nothing to immediately replace it with....
