Intended as a more affordable and less complicated version of the revered DS, the ID19 was launched in 1956 and initially lacked its sibling's hydraulically-operated clutch and gearchange, and unique powered steering and braking systems.
However, the ID range was subsequently developed in parallel and, from 1970, it was replaced by a range of three models all with powered steering and brakes – the 1985cc, four-speed D Spécial and D Super and the 115bhp, 2175cc, five-speed D Super 5.
We are pleased to present a really lovely car from the first year of D Spécial production.
Its British history begins in 1986, when it was imported from Germany and entered a period of long-term family ownership.
