AI Listing Summary

This is a left-hand drive 1953 MG TF 1500, imported from California in 2012 and subsequently restored. Restoration work included body panel refurbishment, rechroming, interior retrimming, and some mechanical overhauls, making it a presentable classic, though its left-hand drive configuration should be considered.

Condition

7

The car has been restored, including bodywork, rechroming, and interior work. While it spent its life in California, implying good preservation, it also needed paintwork. New tires and some mechanical work suggest good maintenance, but the left-hand drive configuration might affect its appeal in the UK.

The MG TF was introduced in 1953 as a replacement for the pre-war style TD.

The new design incorporated the headlamps within the front wings, lowered the twelve gallon fuel tank at the rear and greatly improved the overall lines, accessibility and creature comforts.

The initial engine was the uprated XPAG unit from TD Mk II, with twin SU carburettors producing 57.5bhp at 5500rpm.

Later cars benefited from increased performance from a larger 1500cc engine, which also powered the Magnette saloons of the period.

A large number were sold in the USA and many are now finding their way back to the UK, often in left hand drive form.

Very popular nowadays in the classic car world, due not only to their attractive lines but also because of their very acceptable levels of performance and comfort, making them perfectly at home in modern traffic.

Regarded by many as the last traditional MG, this TF 1500 is widely considered the most desirable of the range.
