The 1122cc Coventry Climax four cylinder engine also provided inspiration for the new model’s name.

Performance was usually brisk indeed, and the well-considered, now iconic design provided driver and passenger with rather more comfort and stability than the 4-4’s three-wheeled predecessor.

As well as the original two-seater, Morgan introduced a four-seat model in 1937 and a drophead coupe in the following year.
