Introduced for the 1968 model year, BMW's E9 coupe carried the mechanical layout of the "Neue Klasse" with sleek coachwork built by Karmann.

Its long doors and low, unbroken beltline drawn from the earlier 2000 CS.

The 2800 CS launched the family with a 2.8-liter inline-six, with this example benefitting from a comprehensive suite of upgrades completed under prior ownership.

Most notably, the engine was upgraded with a 3.4-liter M30 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The car was further fitted with four-wheel disc brakes, Bilstein shock absorbers, and 16-inch Coupeking Alpina-style wheels, and the body was reported to have been refinished in period-correct Polaris New Metallic during this same period.



Before the current owner's acquisition of the car in 2024, additional enhancements were carried out, as noted by previous research, stating with fitting a Megasquirt fuel injection system.
