This 1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 is one of 1,278 Cabriolet A models bodied by Sindelfingen Karosserie between 1951 and 1955.

Chassis 9297752 was selected for use in Hiro Yamagata’s “Earthly Paradise” exhibit and was refurbished in 1996 prior to being hand-painted by the artist in Tropical Forest Green with a butterfly motif.

The car was displayed in Los Angeles, Europe, and Japan, where it was purchased by its former owner in the early 2000s.

It was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025 and subsequently returned to the US.

Power comes from a 2.2-liter inline-six paired with a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission.

It rides on 15″ steel wheels with hubcaps painted to match the exterior color scheme and is further equipped with driving lamps, rear-hinged doors, and a beige convertible top with chrome landau bars.
