Condition

5

The car has noticeable cosmetic and mechanical wear. There are paint scratches, the vinyl roof is creased, and the carpeting needs replacement. Mechanically, the engine leaks oil and would benefit from a tune-up, and the transmission and rear axle also leak. The fuel gauge is unreliable, and the traffickers stick. Moderate reconditioning is needed.

This 1951 Riley RMB saloon was purchased by the seller , and subsequent work included the installation of a 1.5-liter inline-four sourced from a 1979 Triumph Spitfire and a four-speed manual transmission from a 1973 Spitfire.

Other work involved replacing the carburetor, alternator, distributor, radiator fan, and clutch as well as the brakes, shocks, tires, wiring, headlights, signal lights, roof covering, door handles, gauges, heater, and headliner.

The vehicle was sold new in Australia and was brought to the United States at some point prior to 1968.

The car reportedly then spent more than 40 years with the same owner and was repainted in the 1990s, after which it was partially reassembled and stored until being acquired by the prior owner in 2018.
