This Lotus 23B was sold as a rolling chassis by Essex Racing Services in Connecticut to Peter Bloore Racing in Oxford, UK, in 1981, by which time it had received 23C-style modifications and was absent of an identification number.

It was sold as an unfinished project in 2001 to Dick and Oliver Crosthwaite, who subsequently initiated the completion of the refurbishment by Crosthwaite & Gardiner.

After an appearance at the 2012 Monterey Motorsports Reunion, the car was acquired by the seller in 2013 and has since participated in numerous historic racing events including a return to Monterey in 2018.

The fiberglass body is finished in blue, and the car is powered by a 1,594cc Lotus-Ford DOHC inline-four that was rebuilt in 2022 and features twin Weber 45 DCOE carburetors and dry-sump lubrication.
