Condition

5

Cosmetically, this car is showing its age and would benefit from a repaint and some tidying. However, mechanically, the car is running and driving nicely on site with good oil pressure. Recent parts fitted include a new radiator, kingpin, alternator, and front brake calipers. The car also has a full set of weather gear in serviceable condition.

Description Just three owners from new, the current since 1979; lots of history; 'use and improve' condition; running and driving nicely on site Launched in 1936, the 4/4 was Morgan’s first foray into the world of four-wheel transport – hence the model name denoting four wheels and four cylinders.

Apart from a break during World War II and a short period in the early 1950s, the 4/4 has been in continuous production ever since.

Engine capacity increased from the 1,122cc Coventry Climax engine in 1936 to a 1.8 litre Ford engine by 2004.

The 4/4 1600 was introduced in 1968 fitted with a variety of Ford Kent Crossflow engines from 70bhp to 93bhp.

A total of 3,513 were built by March 1982, some with two seats and some with four.

This four-seater 4/4 left the Malvern works in August 1972 fitted with the 93bhp 1600cc Cortina GT engine mated to a 4-speed gearbox.

Originally a dealer demonstrator, it was registered to Sterling Carriage Co.
