Factory-built in Dorset by Chesil, this one-owner-from-new Speedster is what its creators would now call a Heritage Speedster.
Built a decade ago, around a shortened Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle) platform and original Volkswagen running gear – with some significant modifications – this Speedster offers the period soundtrack of an air-cooled engine, but with some renewed vigour...
The V5C states that it retains a 1285cc VW motor, but they're mistaken, as it has had an 1800cc VW unit from new.
There’s a dyno print-out in the car’s history, showing that the engine was making an impressively healthy 71.4bhp in 2016.
With so little weight to carry around, that relatively modest figure certainly goes a long way.
According to the vendor, who has owned two of these machines (this is his second), his Chesil Speedster has been “serviced every year, irrespective of mileage by Russel's Garage and MoT Station in Winchmore Hill, Bucks.
Kept in a heated garage,” and remains in “Lovely condition”.
