The first in the line of now-legendary F-series vehicles, the first-generation Ford F1 was introduced in 1948 and produced through to 1952, representing the first time that passenger and commercial vehicle production was split within the Ford company, with the F1 featuring Ford’s first dedicated truck chassis.

Offered with the choice of either a ‘flathead’ inline-six or a ‘flathead’ V8 engine, the F1 was the first truly new post-war truck design offered following the cessation of hostilities in 1945, putting Ford immediately ahead of their competitors, thanks in part to over £1m invested in R&D.

Succeeded by the largely similar second-generation F-Series in 1952, the F1 truly put Ford back into the commercial vehicle market in the 20th century, and remains a favourite for both restorers, purist enthusiasts and hot-rudders alike.
