• Limited edition luxury sports saloon • Delivered new to the USA • Present ownership since 2012 • Imported into Switzerland circa 2014 • Extensive servicing and maintenance works 2014-2015 (bills available) • Swiss registration document First shown at the Paris Salon in 1990, the 500E had been developed with assistance from Porsche, and despite possessing all the luxury accoutrements associated with a range-topping Mercedes-Benz, contrived to be lighter than the 500 SL sports car.
Each hand-built example was transported back and forth between the Mercedes-Benz factory and Porsche's plant in Zuffenhausen.
It took 18 days to complete each one.
Powered by the 500 SL's 5.0-litre V8, the 500E delivered shattering performance, reaching 60mph (96km/h) in six seconds and topping out at around 170mph (273km/h).
Delivered new to the USA, this example arrived in the UK in 2012 before coming to Switzerland circa 2014.
Our vendor has owned the Mercedes since 2012.
