Ettore Bugatti demeurera toujours comme un des plus remarquables créateurs de l'histoire de l'automobile, suivi un demi-siècle plus tard par Enzo Ferrari.

Né à Milan le 15 septembre 1881, il a construit sa première voiture en 1898 et est déjà victorieux d'une course Nice/Castellane.

Ses parents étaient tous des artistes : son père Carlo, ébéniste, peintre, orfèvre, réalisait des meubles d'un style très personnel et son frère Rembrandt fut un sculpteur animalier dont les bronzes sont aussi recherchés de nos jours que les voitures d'Ettore.

Quant à Jean son fils qui s'est malheureusement tué en essayant une voiture, il avait déjà prouvé qu'il avait les talents nécessaires pour être le digne successeur de son père.

Appartenant à une famille d'artistes dés ses premières modèles, les Bugatti ont tout lieu d'être considérées comme des œuvres d'art : il a crée avant d'avoir trente ans huit modèles d'automobiles dont les performances techniques étaient accompagnées d'une recherche d'élégan...
