Launched in 1984 at the British International Motor Show in Birmingham, the Scimitar SS1 was developed to fill a gap in the small sports car market.

It was the final design of renowned stylist Giovanni Michelotti, giving the model significant historical interest.

The name ‘SS1’ is widely believed to stand for ‘Small Sports 1’.

Although Reliant originally intended to produce around 2,000 units per year, total production over the ten‑year run reached just 1,507 cars, making the SS1 a relatively rare sight today.

It is believed that f rom 1986 onwards, the SS1’s steel chassis was fully galvanized.

According to the Reliant Scimitar and SAbre Owners' Club, a single wiper and post '900' chassis number should denote a galvanized example.

First registered on 29th August 1986 and finished in White with a Grey cloth interior, this Reliant Scimitar SS1, with Ford's 1296cc engine, has had just three former keepers recorded with the DVLA.
